This Masterclass is designed for supervisors who wish to deepen their capability in supervising for ethical competence, with a strong focus on health equity and human rights. It is particularly relevant for those working with diverse groups and Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, and communities.
This Masterclass draws on established ethical frameworks and supports supervisors to strengthen their skills in these areas, including specific considerations for rural and remote practice. Health equity and human rights are explored through the lens of the new Professional Competencies, with particular attention to Competency 7(working with people from diverse groups) and Competency 8 (working with Aboriginal and Torress Strait Islander peoples, families, and communities).
Supervision models and practical tools are examined within a best-practice framework, with all content grounded in the relational nature of supervisory practice.
After completing this Masterclass you will be able to:
- Demonstrate familiarity with the professional competencies for psychology and pathways to registration
- Use ethical models and frameworks to support safe and effective psychology practice, including in rural and remote contexts
- Integrate principles of health equity and human rights into the supervision relationship, including an applied understanding of intersectionality
- Assess and evaluate supervisee competence in health equity and human rights when working with diverse groups and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
