Unleash your sense of adventure, compassion and social accountability and have an impact on people's lives.
The Murtupuni Centre for Rural and Remote Health (MCRRH) student placements provide students and trainees rich, authentic multidisciplinary training and experiences in distinctive remote and rural settings.
Low supervisor-to-student ratio ensures meaningful participation in the clinical team, closer contact with supervisors, clinical teaching staff, academics and clinical leads and excellent opportunities to experience a wide variety of patients and complex clinical presentations.
We coordinate your clinical placement, provide accommodation, orientation, cultural mentorship, clinical skill development, interprofessional simulated learning, pastoral support and ensure you have opportunities for experiencing rural life, community engagement and volunteering.
Our sites (Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Longreach, Weipa) have state-of-the-art simulation labs, interprofessional learning sessions, are technologically enhanced with IT connected teaching facilities and modern, shared fully furnished accommodation equipped with access to Eduroam wireless.
Students undertaking our clinical placements contribute to making a difference to communities, gain new skills, confidence, real work experience in remote and rural contexts and develop enduring multidisciplinary professional networks and friendships.

Student Social Life in the Outback
Experience the outback lifestyle during your learning.
Australia is a unique place, and the outback even more so. As a health professional, your role is to understand both the science and the patient. Embracing your time in the outback will benefit you as a burgeoning professional, as much as it will your own wellbeing.
There is a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, including water activities on dams or rivers and spectacular bushwalking. Make the most of your time in the outback, get involved in community life by joining a sports team, church community or social group and joining in on the youth programs with which we are involved.
