Facilities

The Centre for Rural and Remote Health is distributed across four sites with the main campus in Mount Isa and study centres in Cloncurry, Longreach and Weipa. Each of the sites have student accommodation, teaching rooms, Eduroam wi-fi facilities, simulation clinical skills rooms and video conferencing and teleconferencing facilities.

The Centre’s main sites are in Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Longreach and Weipa.

Our facilities in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Longreach are available for hire to health and community organisations. Priority is given to health-sector organisations. Some bookings may incur a fee. Contact our admin team for more details.

Library

Jointly funded by JCU and Queensland Health, the Yacca Library is a research and study hub for students, health researchers and health professionals working across the outback regions which offers:

  • Clinical texts and DVDs for loan;
  • Printing, scanning and photocopying facilities;
  • Computers;
  • Tutorial room with video conferencing equipment;
  • Eduroam wifi access; and
  • Quiet, air-conditioned study space.

Library staff are available to provide:

  • Research advice;
  • Proofreading services; and
  • Referencing help.

The Yacca Library is named after the Kalkadoon Black Cockatoo Dreaming.
