Supporting students undertaking rural and remote placements through dedicated accommodation
Experience real clinical practice, community connection, and true outback Australia.
Murtupuni Centre for Rural & Remote Health (MCRRH) provides purpose-designed student accommodation to support nursing, midwifery, and allied health students undertaking rural and remote placements across Mount Isa, the North West, Central West, and Weipa / Thursday Island.
Our accommodation is delivered as part of the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program, funded by the Australian Government, and is designed to reduce financial and logistical barriers to rural placement participation. By offering safe, practical, and accessible accommodation, MCRRH supports students to focus on their learning, wellbeing, and placement experience.
Accommodation is available across multiple sites and communities and supports a respectful, multidisciplinary living environment aligned with local health services, partner organisations, and the communities we serve. All accommodation is managed by the MCRRH Multidisciplinary Training Team, who work closely with universities and placement providers to ensure students feel supported, welcomed, and prepared during their stay.
