Building Stronger Learners in our Region

17.10.22

We are working with the Mount Isa community to build stronger learners in primary and secondary schools and people who have already left school.

Educational providers, industry and community members are invited to meetings in our centre today, 17 October to learn about the Building Capabilities for Success: Targeting Preparedness for Ongoing Learning Project. Mount Isa has been selected as a potential project site for the project.

The Federal Department of Education has allocated funding under The Regional Partnerships Project Pool Program to support collaborative outreach projects that enable the higher education aspirations of students in regional and remote Australia, including those who may be experiencing cumulative disadvantage.

JCU’s  Professor Martin Nakata and Professor Maree Dinan-Thompson would like to meet with stakeholders this afternoon to provide more information about the project. Schools are critical partners for this project.

Listen to Professor Maree Dinan-Thompson's interview with ABC Mount Isa radio in the link below.
